Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), Iranians are heading the list of Germany’s best educated Muslims, according to a study published by a government agency dealing with immigrant affairs.
Presenting the 452-page report in Berlin on Thursday, one of its authors, Anja Stichs, said Iranians who comprise 2 percent of Germany’s total Muslim population, had the highest educational level of all Muslims in the country, IRNA reported.
“Some 81 percent of Iranians in Germany have graduated from a university in either Iran or Germany,” she said.
According to Stichs, 63 percent of Iranians have received a high school diploma in Germany. Iranians have also been very successful in Germany’s professional world, as 20 percent of them are self-employed which is significantly higher than the average rate of other Muslim groups in the country.
The average age of Germany-based Iranians is higher than other Muslims in the country and most Iranians have lived for more than 15 years in Germany.
There are between 60,000 and 80,000 Iranian Muslims living in Germany, based on estimates of the study that questioned 753 Iranians.
The total number of Muslims in Germany hovers between 3.8 million and 4.3 million people, which is roughly around 5 percent of the total population.
